Caribbean Street Festival set to spice up Hunter Street

Caribbean Street Fest 2014

Peterborough residents and visitors are invited to enjoy live music, Caribbean food and family fun at the 5th Annual Caribbean Street Festival set to take place on Hunter St; between Water and George, on August 7th 2014 from 4:00pm – 10:00pm.
Come and celebrate the sights and sounds of the Caribbean with us and dance the night away to live music and entertainment by Enchanting Steel Pan, One Mind, Sunray & the Rhythmatixx, Infrared and the Pyro-Flys. The festivals entertainment lineup is designed to cover a variety of music from all Caribbean influences of Steel Pan, Salsa, Reggae, Ska, Soca and Calypso for all to enjoy.
New this year, organizers will feature masqueraders for festival-goers to have the ultimate carnival experience. “Every Caribbean festival needs a little mas; it’s part of the culture!” says Simone Rowe, Festival Coordinator. “We’ve never had costumes at the festival before, so I think everyone will enjoy the vibrant colours and striking headpieces that express the diversity and elements of the Caribbean.”

This is the fifth year for the Caribbean Street Festival and none of this would be possible without the support of their many sponsors and volunteers. This year’s sponsors include the City of Peterborough, Peterborough DBIA, McColl Turner Chartered Accountants, Scotiabank-Kawartha Centre, The Historic Red Dog Tavern, WE Design, STRUTT Central, Razberry the Clown, the Toy Shop of Peterborough, Carlson Wagonlit Travel, Rennie Lowes of Exit Realty Liftlock, Pilkington-Henniger Charitable Trust, Dreams of Beans Roasting House, the Sapphire Room and Jamaican Self-Help.
