Multicultural Canada Day 2015

Multicultural Canada Day

Last year, over 11,000 people enjoyed sharing the foods, crafts and performances brought to Peterborough by newcomers from around the world. Food and craft vendors, sports demonstrations (11am – 1pm), stage performances (1-3pm) and activities for the family – everyone welcome!

With the support of Canadian Heritage, the City of Peterborough, IGNITE Toronto 2015, Generation Solar, Country 105 and Energy 997, the New Canadians Centre Peterborough invites you to participate in the Multicultural Canada Day Festival at Del Crary Park. Each year the New Canadians Centre brings together a fantastic group of international food and craft vendors and stage performers from around the world- all celebrating the rich cultural diversity of Peterborough and Canada.

Through the Day
From 10:00 am until 3:30 pm tents and tables will fill Del Crary Park.  There will be the opportunity to try foods from around the world: Thailand, Russia, Bangladesh, the Caribbean, Greece and many more.  We have new vendors this year who will feature Persian and Mexican cuisines. The New Canadians Centre BBQ will also be on hand for those who prefer their hamburgers and hotdogs.

We encourage everyone to bring their own dishes and cutlery so that we can continue our efforts to Green the event.

From 11:00 am to 1:00pm, join us for great examples of sports that hail from different cultural traditions. The facilitators welcome audience participation. Our multicultural stage show will run from 1:00 to 3:00pm. A wide range of performances will be showcased.

Fun Family Activities (11:00 am – 1:00pm)
Jiu Jitsu, Zumba, Fencing, Archery

Our popular mock Citizenship test will be on hand for everyone to try out, and new activities have been set up to test your knowledge of provincial symbols, flowers and animals. Children can enjoy the face-painting, henna tattoos and field games at the Kids Zone.

Don’t miss out on your chance to win $630 worth of downtown restaurant gift certificates with our “Around the World in 20 Dinners” raffle draw!
