A Grand new Property Protected

A beautiful, vibrant landscape will now be protected forever! 204 acre property is located in the Bethany Hills, an area where the Kawartha Land Trust is talking to landowners about their conservation and tax incentive options.

Imagine walking through a lush forest, with carpets of cohosh and baneberry spread out under large maples. As you turn to your right, you gaze through the trees and out over a pond and the deep Fleetwood Creek valley. In the far fields, Bobolinks, Meadowlarks and Barn Swallows thrive in and over the meadows — safe here now but declining and at risk across the province.

Ride with us on October 4, 2014 in the Ride for Refuge!
This is a fantastically fun, family-friendly bike-a-thon that supports hundreds of charities across Canada!

Register individually, join a team, or captain your own team to support the New Canadians Centre. You can join the New Canadians Centre of Peterborough “The NCCyclists” or Jason Stabler’s team, visit http://rideforrefuge.org/partner/nccptbo.

Riders select the route length they prefer (matching their physical ability) during registration: 10km, 25km or 50km. Along the route, riders will encounter rest stops, support vehicles and route marshals. After the event a delicious lunch will be served for all volunteers and participants.

T-shirt Bonus: riders who raise their fundraising minimum qualify for the famous long-sleeved  RIDE t-shirt.

Funds raised from the ride will support the NCC’s settlement services, Community Connections program. This includes support for NCC’s local program matching volunteer tutors with newcomers, conversation groups, Women’s Group and local tours.
